What To Expect When Visiting

Here are a few common questions and answers about visiting First Baptist Church that will help you enjoy your first visit:

Where should I begin my visit?

The most comfortable time and place to begin your first visit is probably the 10:45am service on Sunday in the Worship Center.  There is visitor parking directly in front of the Worship Center (click here for a campus map) located on the corner of S. Wood St and 5th St.  When you enter the Worship Center you should find friendly people who will welcome you and help you get situated.  If you have children and would like for them to go to our secure nursery, they will help you get them signed in and take you to the right place.  Otherwise, they will show you the coffee bar and help you find a place to sit.

What do we do with the visitor information cards?

We believe that no one comes to our church by accident.  We believe that God leads each person here and because of that, we want to help you determine if this is where God is leading you to call your church home.  We ask that you fill out an information card with basic info like name and number and mailing address so that we can make some follow-up contact in two specific ways: you will receive a phone call during the week from one of the pastors just to touch bases and offer any assistance he can give and a letter in the mail from the senior pastor explaining a little bit about how God is working at our church.  We do not make uninvited home visits.  In exchange for the visitor information card, we offer a token of our appreciation for your visit and something to remember us by in our resource center called, The Shelf.  We ask that you take the card to the The Shelf after the worship service and receive your gift.

What should I wear?

This is probably the most common question. We want you to feel welcome. Our dress is casual.  Specific attire is not required, and our members wear a variety of styles of clothing. We think it makes sense to wear clean, modest clothing to church. As long as you do that you will not feel out of place.  Most folks wear blue jeans and polos, button-ups or t-shirts.

Do you have a nursery?

Yes. Nursery is provided during all services for children less than 3 years of age. Sunday school is offered for children age 4 and up. Children 4 years old through 3rd grade attend the first part of worship then go to Children's church.  Children may remain with you for the whole service if you would like.

What are your services like?

Our services offer a good mix of contemporary praise songs and hymns. We have a praise team and utilize various multi-media tools to enhance the worship atmosphere. The focus of all of our meetings is the Word of God. Generally, we will have several songs, prayer, an offering, and then a message from the Bible.

Do visitors have to stand up and say anything?

No, you sure don’t. We will give you a visitor’s card and ask you to drop it in the offering plate so we can have a record of your visit and write you a letter about how God is working here.
